The board of Enterprising Bathgate would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped make the Information Open Day event on 28th & 29th April 2010 a success.
David Stein, Chair of Enterprising Bathgate Ltd., looked forward to other forthcoming major projects in the town, such as the new railway station, new library and community centre on the Lindsay House site, and the new supermarket and retail development planned for the former steel foundry site on Whitburn Road, as well as the impressive new swimming pool opened by Excite last month.
David then introduced the premiere showing of the film “A BID in Progress”, which was funded by the Scottish Government, and focuses on the work of Enterprising Bathgate, which became Scotland’s first Business Improvement District (BID) in 2008.
The feedback from the Bathgate business community after the event has been excellent. Alistair McMurdo of Castlebrae Letting Ltd. commented “I would like to congratulate the BID team on an exceptional presentation, which was very informative and shows that Bathgate means business, Speaking to other business owners there is a real belief that things are changing for the better.”
The event was rounded off by Ian Davison Porter, the Scottish Government’s National Director for BIDs, who praised the work of Enterprising Bathgate, highlighting its ability to work at grass roots level with the businesses. He explained to the audience that when he is approached by other Scottish towns interested in adopting the BID approach, he always advises them to visit Bathgate to study the work which is underway in the town, as an excellent example of the BID model. |
